Documint connects with Airtable by auto-mapping fields and showing their types and relationships in the Schema Designer, making it easy to build dynamic templates.

Mapping Data From the Airtable App

1. Select Airtable Connection

In the Data pane, click on the Airtable option under Source.

Then, choose the Airtable connection you want to link to the template.

If you haven't created an Airtable connection yet, this option will show up allowing you to set one up by entering the PAT key.

1. Select Base

Now, select the base you want to use for generating your PDFs.

And now, the table.

Don't forget to expand the linked records to have access to that data.

Token & Token Types

Tokens are placeholders that represent fields from your Airtable base. When you connect Airtable, Documint automatically maps each field to its appropriate type, so you can use them directly in your templates without manual configuration.

Types

1. String – text values (names, descriptions, addresses).

2. Number – numeric values (prices, quantities, percentages).

3. Boolean – true/false values.

4. Date/Time – timestamps or dates.

5. Object – structured data with multiple properties (e.g., customer with name + email).

6. Collection – arrays of objects (e.g., invoice line items).

7. List – simple arrays of values (tags, phone numbers, dates).

Tokens can be edited. Just click on it and head over to the properties tab! If you prefer, you can also click on the cog icon, and the same handy pop-up will pop up for you.
