  1. Templates

Template Designer v2 (Beta)

Overview

Welcome to the latest version of our Template Designer! Whether you're a longtime Documint user or just getting started, you'll find our newest updates make creating professional documents easier than ever.

We've transformed how you add and manage the dynamic parts of your templates. Our focus has been on making variable insertion and data management intuitive and visual, eliminating the need for technical syntax while expanding the power available to you.

What's New?

Our beta release introduces several key improvements:

  • Data Source Connections: Import your data source fields directly into the template editor for quick drag-and-drop functionality.

  • Visual Field Editor: Simple and intuitive interface for defining your fields.

  • Drag-and-Drop Tokens: Insert dynamic content with simple drag-and-drop actions instead of typing code.

  • Smart Context Awareness: Tokens automatically understand their location in your document.

  • Live Data Preview: Test your templates with real data.

  • Enhanced Formatting Controls: Format dates, numbers, and text directly through an intuitive interface.

  • Improved Conditional Logic: Show or hide elements based on data with our new visual condition builder.

  • Better List Management: Filter repeated items with our redesigned list controls.

Why These Changes Matter

We've observed that traditional template systems with coding syntax like {{ variable_name }} create unnecessary complexity. Many of our users have brilliant ideas for their documents but don't have coding experience. Our mission is to remove these technical barriers while maintaining all the power and flexibility you need.

With our new visual approach, you can focus on designing beautiful, data-driven documents rather than troubleshooting syntax. The Template Designer now truly delivers on our promise of a no-code document generation solution.

For Existing Users

If you're familiar with our previous version, you'll notice we've replaced the Handlebars curly bracket syntax with visual tokens. Don't worry! All your existing templates will continue to work. The new system offers the same capabilities you're used to, but with a more intuitive interface.

For New Users

Welcome to Documint! You've joined us at an exciting time. Our Template Designer lets you create professional, data-driven documents without any coding knowledge. If you can use Google Docs or Airtable, you already have all the skills you need to create powerful document templates.

In the following sections, we'll explore each new feature in detail, with step-by-step instructions and visual examples to guide you through creating your perfect templates.
